This is a software tool for the Pocket PC and other handheld devices that helps connect to data acquisition devices.

Mobile Data Acquisition Software (Mobile Software Wedge) is an application for Pocket PC, Windows Mobile and Windows CE based mobile devices or handhelds. Such external devices could be barcode readers, electronic scales, controllers, analyzers, RFID-readers, WLAN-devices, measurement tools, gauges, etc. TWedgeCE reads device data and forwards it to the target application by simulating keystrokes (keyboard wedge operation). Data acquisition devices thus can be easily interfaced without any significant effort to fit things together. It works with serial interfaces, Bluetooth, TCP and UDP. No programming is required! Automation functionality are quite flexible; the required input field is selected automatically. Applications can be started automatically. Function keys can be simulated based on input data. The tool is simple to set up. All you need to do is to run the setup file and it gets deployed over a MS ActiveSync connection.

The configuration is maintained by a single text-based configuration file, this simplifies deployment. The configuration to multiple mobile devices is done easily. Working with the external data collection devices could be over RS232 (serial interface, COM), Bluetooth, TCP and UDP connections. The application works in the background, the interface that lets you set up the tool is very easy to use. The interface design is quite intuitive too so that a first time user also may not need much familiarization time.

TWedgeCE operates in the background and does not influence other applications - like a watchdog. If needed, you can adjust TWedgeCE to run as "Mini Application" in the task bar - like the system clock.
